Cleaning your Weber® Barbecue.

Before we start it is worth mentioning that the best way to clean your cooking grates on any Weber® barbecue is using the burn-off method. To view our full range ofWeber Cleaning Accessories

This is where you get your barbecue nice and hot before each use, and let the heat burn off any residue from your last cooking session.

You then simply take your cleaning brush and scrape off the now blackened layer on your grates and you are ready to cook again.

However, should you want to do a more thorough clean in time for the season then please see below.

Cleaning of Weber® Gas barbecues.

Within the Weber® range of gas barbecues, there is the Q® range and the Spirit®, Genesis® and Summit® range. Below we’ll describe how to best clean both of those and get them cooking ready for those light and warm days.

Q® range:

With its distinct oval shape, the Q® barbecue is the small go to barbecue for many families short of space. Cleaning it couldn’t be easier. The best thing to do is invest in a gas grill maintenance kit, a burner tube brush and a Q™ and Grate Cleaner.

You then use the ‘spatula’ in the maintenance kit to scrape off fat and residue left in the cook box, and lid, any additional soot or residue can be wiped off using Q™ cleaner and paper towels. Don't forget to replace your disposable drip tray underneath, and give the drip tray holder a good wipe down.

To give your grates a good spring clean, all you have to do is use the Weber® Q™ and grate cleaner. Once you have done this you are almost done! The last internal clean you need to do on your Q® barbecue is your burner.

Your barbecue is now spring-cleaned inside and all you need to do is use the Q cleaner to clean the outside of your bar

Other Weber® Gas barbecues.

With their slightly different design, there are some things to take into account when cleaning your larger Weber® gas barbecue. In terms of what you need, you are looking at almost the same as with the Q®. A gas grill maintenance kit, a Q™ and grate cleaner and either enamel or stainless steel cleaner depending on what finish your barbecue has. When cleaning the grates the same applies as with the Q®, use the grate cleaner and/or burn off method whichever you prefer. If doing the burn-off method please remember that your grates are super-hot an allow them to cool down before continuing your clean, or alternatively do them last. Use warm soapy water for the inside of the lid and cook box, for anything stubborn and burnt on the cook box scraper will come in handy.

When cleaning your burners, simply use the brush provided in the maintenance kit to clean the outside of these, if you want to be really thorough get a burner tube brush and use this to clean the inside of your burners too.
What sets the cleaning of bigger gas barbecues apart is that you have the removable grease tray underneath the barbecue which leads the grease into the disposable drip tray, as well as your Flavourizer bars.

To clean this, simply slide it out and wipe it down with the enamel cleaner and a cloth. For more stubborn things, result back to using the cook box scraper. To clean the flavorizer bars, simply use the Q™ and grate cleaner which should clean them up nicely. The final part of your cleaning is an exterior one, which you do using a cloth and either the enamel or stainless steel cleaner.

One final tip on all Weber® gas barbecues is to check your hose for leaks.

Use fairy liquid to check for any gas leaks coming from your hose. Firstly, make sure your burners and regulator are in the off position. Then Simply cover the regulator and hose in fairy liquid, turn on the regulator and barbecue, if you see any places in which the liquid bubbles you have a gas leak and would require a new hose and regulator set.

Cleaning your charcoal barbecue.

Whatever Weber® charcoal barbecue might be living at home with you, the cleaning procedure is the same.
In terms of the grates, we recommend the burn-off method, or for extra stubborn things using the Q™ and grate cleaner.
For the inside and outside we recommend the enamel cleaner, and a sponge or cloth.
Remember to clean your ash catcher as well, this is enamel on some barbecues and can, therefore, be cleaned using the enamel cleaner, it might be steel on others in which case simply clean them using a damp cloth.

If you follow the cleaning above you should have a spring cleaned, shiny, almost good as new barbecue.
