Differences between the Smokey Joe Original, Premium & Jumbo Joe
5th May 2013
Weber is renowned for their high-quality barbecues and they're one of the most popular barbecue brands in the UK. Weber's small, compact, portable barbecues are great for taking to the beach, for a picnic or on holiday. Small doesn't necessarily mean you have to compromise on quality - as with all Weber charcoal barbecues, the Smokey Joe's and new Jumbo Joe barbecues come complete with an impressive 10 Year Limited Warranty.
All Smokey Joe models are manufactured to a high standard:
With a fire and rust-resistant bowl and lid which is made from steel and coated with porcelain-enamel inside and out, making them both weather-proof and extremely durable! Achieving the correct airflow is the secret to perfect barbecuing and the aluminium vents featured on all Weber charcoal barbecues allows you to regulate the air circulating, which in turn regulates the temperature of your barbecue.
The Smokey Joe original, premium and Jumbo Joe barbecues:
all similarly benefit from a triple-plated cooking grate with charcoal measuring cup included so you use just the right amount of charcoal! So what's the difference between theSmokey Joe Originaland theSmokey Joe Premium? Weber Smokey Joe Premium ColoursThere are only two differences between the Smokey Joe original and premium BBQ's with the premium models offering funky colour options like Spring Green, Smoke and Slate.
The size and features are the same for both Smokey Joe's, however the premium offers the added benefit of a 'Tuck-Away Lid Holder' which locks the barbecue firmly in place, making it easier and safer to carry and transport (with the added benefit of doubling up as a lid holder!). The Smokey Joe premium barbecues offer colour options including Spring Green, Smoke and Slate (as above).
New Weber 'Jumbo Joe' features...
Weber Jumbo Joe BBQ is 10cm larger in diameter than the Smokey Joe's, the new Jumbo Joe charcoal barbecue is essentially the Weber 47cm Compact BBQ in a shorter format! Designed for small groups and families, the new Jumbo Joe is big enough to cook up a feast for 4-6 people, yet compact and lightweight enough to carry around (perfect for holidays or picnics!). The Jumbo Joe features a removable aluminium ash catcher allowing you to discard ash easily, also acting as a heat shield and protecting surfaces underneath. The only slight 'down side' to the Jumbo Joe is that it's too big to fit inside the Smokey Joe Carry Bag, which has proved to be a popular accessory for the Smokey Joe originals and premiums. (The 'Jumbo Joe' has now been discontinued: 05/11/2019)
