Here are our top safety tips for grilling in the great outdoors: If you're having a barbecue in a public place, ensure that barbecues are allowed at your chosen location before you fire up. Take some antibacterial hand gel or wipes with you if you know you'll be in a place without hand-washing facilities. Use a food thermometer to make sure that your meat is cooked properly. Never leave your barbecue unattended. Particular care should be taken in hot, dry weather to reduce the risk of starting a forest or grass fire. Make sure to remove any debris and rubbish after your barbecue. Ensure that any gas bottles are stored correctly before transporting. Allow your barbecue to cool sufficiently before transporting.
