Picnic Barbecues

31st May 2018

Why restrict barbecuing to your back garden when these portable barbecues open a whole new world of possibilities? In this post, we'll show you that smaller grilling areas aren't necessarily restrictive. Be it gas or charcoal you're after there's a portable barbecue fit for everyone this summer.

Smokey Joe® Premium

Smokey Joe® PremiumAvailable in four charming colours this mini charcoal barbecue is perfect for barbecue traditionalists. With a 37cm cooking grate, despite its small size the Smokey Joe® boasts a cooking area of 1075cm2, which will easily serve two to three people. The porcelain-enamelled lid and bowl are protected from burning from the coals, rust, and weather and are easy to clean.

The weatherproof handle features a protective heat shield, along with the Tuck-n-Carry lid lock this means that the barbecue can be easily transported. Additionally, the side and lid vents can both be completely closed once you have finished barbecuing, thus starving the coals - both reducing the amount of time you have to wait for your barbecue to cool down but also the amount of fuel wasted.

The Smokey Joe® Premium comes with a free charcoal measuring and 10-year limited warranty.

Go-Anywhere®

Charcoal

Go-Anywhere® CharcoalSimilar to the Smokey Joe® is the Go-Anywhere® Charcoal barbecue, featuring a triple-plated steel cooking grate of 40.5cm by 25.5cm with a cooking area of 1032cm2, just slightly less than the Smokey Joe®, this barbecue is perfect for those who are constantly on the go.

This compact barbecue comes with a porcelain-enamelled lid and bowl and features two curved legs to keep the body of the barbecue well away from the ground to avoid burning it, which also fold up to lock the lid into place when carrying the barbecue. Much like the Smokey Joe®, the Go-Anywhere's vents can be closed completely to starve the coals, and has a handle with protective heat shield.

The Go-Anywhere® Charcoal can feed two to three people and comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

Gas

The design of theGo-Anywhere® Gas is almost identical to the charcoal, besides a few small features. Obviously, the gas version of the barbecue runs on gas canisters rather than charcoal - the barbecue takes 445g disposable gas canisters, which screw directly into to regulator, however, anadaptorcan be purchased to convert the barbecue to patio gas.

The cooking grates on the Go-Anywhere® Gas are porcelain-enamelled steel, which is non-stick, protects the steel from rusting, and distributes the heat more evenly. Push button ignition means that lighting your Go-Anywhere® Gas has never been easier.

Q 1200

Q 1200 PurpleCurrently available in four vibrant colours; purple, orange, blue, and green. The Q 1200 is the most versatile of the barbecues in this post as it's small size allows it to be easily used as a picnic barbecue, but it's advanced features and optional stand make it a perfect permanent, long-term barbecue as well.

Like the Go-Anywhere® Gas, the Q 1200 uses small disposable gas bottles, and has a small wire holder attached to its side to house them, however, can also be converted to use patio gas with anadaptor. The lid and body of the Q 1200 are made of cast aluminium, which is a durable material and holds the heat well, reducing fuel waste, and the lid features a lid-mounted thermometer allowing you to monitor the internal temperature of your barbecue without opening the lid.

The porcelain-enamelled cast iron cooking grates offer a cooking area of 1355cm2, which can serve up to four people. Cast iron gets up to 60% hotter than other metals and the porcelain-enamel makes the grates non-stick, durable and easy to clean.

The Q 1200 also features fold-out side tables suitable for storing cooked or uncooked food, or cooking tools. There is a removable drip tray for ease of cleaning and the frame is heat resistant, reducing the risk of burns.
